Tip: Grow lights require a 12 hour continuous burn in period when first turned on to perform at their maximum potential. For some grow lights, especially the Sun Pulse line, this burn in is required.
High Pressure Sodium vs Metal Halide? Think of the question in relationship to nature. MH bulbs are blue/white when you look at them, HPS bulbs are yellow/orange/red. At the end of winter when the light outside is a cool blue/white coming off a snowy field plants are starting to sprout and grow. During a hot day in summer when the light outside is a yellow/orange/red plants are fruiting/flowering. Use this as a guideline to making your choice.
What do seeds need to germinate? Most seeds don’t require light to germinate, but all require the proper soil temperature. The temperatures listed on seed packages refer to soil temperature, not air temperature.
